  1. It's not done and I still have some editing to do, but here it is. I'd also be interested in what you think it is about. It’s been eight long years since you left us Is it time for you to finally come home? All these years you’ve been missing Could’ve sworn I’d seen you around Glimpses in the living room Sometimes sitting at the dinner table But then a blink and you vanished from sight I can’t recall the details of that night All I can remember were the tail lights Glowing bright red in the night Reflecting off the wet paved street And a few days later A stranger stepped in our door Someone I had never seen before Unfortunately I’d get to know him all too well These long years you were gone I couldn’t help but lose myself You weren’t here to guide me The thing that took your place Only tore me apart And laughed as I tried to pick up the pieces Unfortunately life dictates That you can’t make something Out of nothing Now that you’re here There’s so much to say You missed all the opportunities Now your precious little boy Is teetering on the edge And it looks like he might fall And, tragically, you were always too far To catch him
  2. I see some Folk on there. Definitely check out The Mountain Goats, Woven Hand, Steve Von Till, M Ward, Bright Eyes, and Simon Joyner; among the best Folk acts of the past few years.
  3. Your Hand In Mine Indie Folk Broken and torn That’s what we are Each time we talk A battlefield A warzone Ground zero for the Dropped atomic bomb Wastelands dominate the spaces Between our thoughts Nothing can make it through Alive We mistreat each other I know someone else would love me better But for some strange reason All I want is Your hand In mine After about 5 minutes of brainstorming, this is what I have come up with so far. It fits into an album I've been writing about a failing relationship that is strained by the unexpected addition of a child to the family. When I first thought of the concept, I had been listening heavily to Tallahassee by The Mountain Goats and somewhat mirrors it in a way, I guess. Also, there isn't any real melody or tune to the song yet, so that's why there's no real discernible structure in certain cases, the last lines are most likely going to form the chorus. I just felt somewhat proud of myself because the beginnings of it turned out better than expected.
  4. My ex, who dumped me on March 23rd, has her birthday on the 16th, should I send her a message saying Happy Birthday and just leave it at that, or keep up with the NC?
