Hair Gel Recommendations

Lately, I've been thinking about making some changes to my look. I've lost about 60lbs in the past year and now I think I want to do something different with my hair. I've never used any hair styling product before so I have no idea what I'm doing or what is best. My hair is thick but moderately short and I think I'd prefer something leaning towards the natural side. Any suggestions?

What kind of hair do you have? Give me more details than thick and moderately short.

I think all the brands pretty much more or less work the same. They do have like different types though such as strong hold, soft hold or etc. If you'd like to have the natural look I'd stick with the "soft hold".
