Hi,

My name is Pavan. I work in Chicago, have a decent job. I met this girl (she is like chinese...but dunno where she is really from!!) who lives in the same apartment as i am. I got her number from our apartment directory, called her, to which she responded and we agreed to goto a near by restaurant this friday. We decided to walk there as it is jst 7 blocks away from our apartment building. This is my first date ever and i really like her. My questions are:

1) How do i greet her when i see her in the lobby (thats where we decided to meet)

2)Should i shake hand, give a kiss on the cheek or what?

3) We dunno eachother, so i guess there will topics abt our family and stuff like that, but what if she asks me abt my exs? I know i need to avoid talking abt, but i dont have any exs!! If i tell her that wont it sound weard?

4) After we come back again same question, should i ask her in? (I really want to avoid romance on the first date!!) , or kiss her good night or shake hands as if we went out on a business meeting?

5) How do i know if she liked the first date and if she ever will go out again with me?

6) Should i call/email her immediately the next day?

Any help is much appreciated, and you will be invited to our marriage if it works out.

Thanks

Eagerly waiting

Pavan

Oh my good lord...slow down cowboy...let's not think about marriage just yet OK??? Let's get through dinner first.

1&2 - say hello, you look very lovely - hand her some flowers. No physical contact yet.

3 - no speaking of exs until the 3rd date. 1st dates are about getting to know each other...hobbies, work, family, friends, favorite movie, what book she's ready, where her last vacation was...superficial stuff. Nothing heavy like politics or ex-relationships.

4 - don't ask her in - but offer to walk her to her door.

5 - if dinner went great - you'll know if she's interested in a 2nd date. If you had nothing in common and had to drink 2 bottles of wine to get through dinner, don't bother. If it went well, tell her - then casually bring up dinner and a movie the following Friday evening.

6 - send her flowers the following day - thank her for a lovely evening and that you wish to see her soon. Give it a day - then call her..she if she got the flowers - it'll be a nice segway into calling her.

Good luck. Take this slow.

Hello all and SweetTartz,

Sweettartz, thanks for ur reply.

Tonight, i have been on my first date and i am guessing it went well.

This is what happened:

She met me in the apartment lobby and i handed her a rose. We walked to the restaurant, talked abt our jobs (briefly), what we want to do in life, what interests us and stuff like that.

We walked back, after abt 2 hours, and as she lives 2 floors above me, i pressed her floor's number on the elevator. Then she started asking me abt my apartment, where it is, if it is a one bed or two etc. By the time we were on 14th i could gather some courage and asked her if she would like to see my apartment. She said 'If you dont want to show me, thats fine!!". I was surprised by this, as i wasnt planning to invite her in (as per the ancient wisdom of avoiding any romance on the first date).

I let her in and closed the door. I asked her if she would like to drink something (Unfortunately i didnt have any beer or wine at home!! ). I offered her a Starbucks Fraputchino which she took and we talked for sometime. then the topic went on to tango and i said i know a little bit of it, and asked her if she would care to try. She jumped at it and we did a bit of tango. While dancing i told her she smells good and kissed her on the cheek. She didnt oppose. I ASKED her if i could kiss her. She nodded her head as if saying no. No means no for me, so i said anything you say. And then she checked her watch and said its abt time she should leave. I didnt push much, but asked her if she would like to stay for some more time. She said she gotta be going. I went out with her, to her apartment and kissed her again, told her that i had good time and asked if she would care to come out sometime next week. She said "probably on monday".

Thats what happened on this lovely, yet very Hot day in the midwest!!

Now here are my questions:

1) why did she want to come to my home? Is it just to see how i live?

2) If she had romance on her mind, did i do something stupid to turn her off?

3) If i did, then why did she say, she would 'probably' meet on monday?

Please throw some light on this. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Pavan
