and ya we dont mess around often

but if i ejaculate that night

the next day i can get it up

im just not as excited

and its not as big

is this weird?

or is it normal

Well the information you gave is pretty vague. Its going to depend on what you mean when you say not as big. If you are still getting fully arroused then I dont see there being a problem but if you arent getting fully arroused then it would seem that you need more time to recover.
