how do I lower my sex drive

Recommended Posts

Im a 44 yr old married man with a wife who had a low sex drive, she then needed Celexa ( only drug of many that works for her) and now has almost no sex drive. Before she went on Celexa she told me about the risk, I said "What ever it takes to help you". I would rather take medication to reduce my libido than go for one nite flings, a girlfriend or an escort service. A couple times a year doesnt do it for me. Masterbation obviously helps, but maybe for only another year. I hope you know of a medication to lower my drive.

Though very honorable of you, I really think that you're wife needs to work on this issue. Though Celexa does in fact lower sex drive, she could still be interested in pleasing you, regardless of drive. I would say the two of you should be in counseling to discuss these issues.

In addition, it is very common for people that once they start an anti -depressant, that they begin to feel better, in turn making them more eager to involve themselves in normal relationship behavior.

I would sit down with her, express your understanding, but make sure she knows that the two of you are a pair....and sex is needed. I think you are nervous of appearing insensitive ...but the reality is, if she is not willing to make the effort, seek counseling with you ...or even be sure you are pleased (i.e. oral sex, manual stimulation etc) then there is a bigger issue here than is being talked about.

Obviously your wife is having some problems and the decreased libido is just part of it. Unfortunately many anti-depressants will lower your sex drive. The last time that I went to see my psychiatrist he changed my meds from Celexa(it wasn't helping my depression and at times I think it made we feel worse) to Zoloft, he also put me on Buspar (buspirone is the generic) for anxiety and told me that the Buspar could help even out any possible side effects of taking an anti-depressant. I would suggest that you and your wife discuss your options and then discuss them with her primary physician

I was also in a simalar situation. I looked all over and seemed to find thousands of aphrodisiacs but no anaphrodisiacs. But i happened upon a herb called black willow bark and it works great and does not rely on estrogen to lower libido it merely dampens the parts of your brain that control sex drive. It is very hard to find but well worth the work. You could also try Vitex (chaste tree berry) and you can get it at any gnc but takes months to really start to work as the black willow bark only takes seconds. There are alot of people selling white willow, but only black willow has the anaphrodisiac properties. To learn more search King's studies on salix nigra.

I am not much aware of medication effects.

To me it feels like you two love each other and are sensitive that a lower drive in one may hurt the other. So each one is trying to lower the drive just for the benefit of the other.

If you understand that she has a lower drive, you don't have to lower yours. Get her to do it to you in other ways. The genital is not the only erogenous zone.

You can find hundreds of them if you explore them.

Don't worry, don't hurry, have patience and find ew ways to satisfy each other. In time you will both regain your sex-drive and have usual sex.

Let me know.

I realize that this thread is getting a bit old now, but I have also been looking for a way to lower my sex drive, and can't seem to find the "salix nigra" (a.k.a. Black Widow Bark) for sale anywhere online. Does anyone you know I could get it, or of another simililar drug?

Thanks in advance,

Matt
