I_love_rain_hugs_and_you
This is a quote by a Bible commentator who lived in the 1600's...it really touched me, so here it is: "Woman was made of a rib out of the side of Adam, not made out of his head to rule over him, nor out of his feet to be trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be beloved" Link to comment
Linda2005
Anyone that thinks women came from the ribs of men is very ignorant or just too fanatic. Link to comment
DN
Anyone that thinks women came from the ribs of men is very ignorant or just too fanatic. Anyone who doesn't understand that much of the Bible is meant to be allegorical hasn't been paying attention. Link to comment
I_love_rain_hugs_and_you
DN is very right. It does not matter whether you really believe that the first woman came from Adam's literal rib. What matters is how relations between men and women were meant to be if they were perfect. Link to comment
Sn0man
Don't take the original poster's statement to be a religious one. Think of it as more of a proverb; it's poetic. I don't think the point he was trying to make was a religious one. Just a great quote. Link to comment

shavski
y'd the Bible have to say: 1Ti 2:11-14: A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. (12) I do not permit a woman to teach or have authority over a man; she must be silent. (13) For Adam was formed first, then Eve. (14) And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. ??? i sent the good quote to my male friend and he thgt he'd beat it with this one Link to comment
discordant_verse
The bible is a very good book (sic). It not only has wise and good sayings for the perceptive mind to pick up, its also got dumb and idiotic sayings for the stupid mind to fall over. And its gotta be the longest novel i can recall of at this time. DV Link to comment
neva_black_n_white
I like it, i think its a good way at looking at it, you can see how times have changed from the 1600 though, i mean not all women see the need to have a man protect them now. i dont think thats a negative thing, its quite uplifting, but at the same time, great quote! darkblue
It really is. It doesn't have to be taken literally; as with all poetry. Poetic justice really. Link to comment
