Recovering a relationship

Hey there guys. So I'm trying to figure out how to move on from some terrible, personal things said by my s/o during a very bad break up we had. He basically bashed anything he could about me. Some stuff about some features I have, how I'll end up like some bad family members, belittled my traits and "talents" (or lack of), etc. However I truly don't believe he meant half the things he said. And he's a wonderful guy all the time except for that period. I get it, he was hurt. But because it was so personal, and such a pinpoint of hurt that he caused, I can't get it out of my head. I hear a constant recorded-like loop of things he said to me. It makes simply snuggling on the couch hard. Help
