tomerson
How do you find out if you have cancer? Is it through blood tests or can it be? or what? Link to comment
Alien777
When I had cancer, I had a lump on my neck. Some cancers manifest themselves as lumps or bumps, others do not. To find out, you need to go to your doctor for a simple blood test and they will be able to tell you. 0X Link to comment
annie24
Depends on the type of cancer. Some are blood tests, sometimes the doctors remove a part of the tumor for a biopsy. They look at the cells under a microscope to see if they look abnormal. No matter what, always get a second opinion. Link to comment
OceanEyes
Sometimes it's through a biopsy, from what I've heard. I think they take a sample of your tissue for analysis. Link to comment
RayKay
It depends...some cancers (like leukemia) are ones that are diagnosed through blood tests in their earlier stages. Others (such as tumours) are done by biopsies (removal of suspect tissue or part of it, such as from breast), and some are caught (cervical cancer) first through pap smears then through further biopsies. Some are first "caught" with CT or MRI scans, and then further exploration is done to diagnose if it is benign or malignant. Some are caught through elevated hormone levels in urine or other body fluids (like prostrate cancer). So, as you can tell, all depends on the cancer...if you are having problems with your health though or have found lumps, a doctor is best place to go to explore your options. Link to comment
