Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about I.B.S., if they have it or could tell me about it. I was at my counselor the other day and we got on the subject of my stomach and he said it sounded like I.B.S. but didn't explain it too much.

Everytime I eat, it goes right through me. Causing much stomach pain. Half the time I would just rather not eat. It's either not eat, and have cramps because of an empty stomach. Or eat, and 10 minutes later have horrible stomach pains, which either one; sucks.

I don't like to eat out because I never know when it's going to hit me, if I do eat, it's not very much. Because if I'm having a stomach pain then I have about 5 seconds to get to the bathroom.

I was just wondering, if anyone else can tell me about it.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I will sometimes have that problem due to stress or abnormal things happening to me.

There are some medications that will help, other than peptobismal, etc. There is one that I have been taking lately that is called Colon Care...it helps your body get rid of toxins.

You also could have a food allergy that you are not aware of, or the food maybe had some bacteria that made you feel sick...

Try and stick with whole foods for a while, like fruit and vegies and home-cooked foods, then see if it goes away.

I don't have it, but know a couple people who do (it is also known as colitis, among other names).

They just need to watch what they eat, as some foods act as larger triggers, and they also use prescription drugs to help ease the symptoms.

I found this link for it, as a starting point at least: link removed

It is more common among women, then men. It is one of those "inconvenient" kind of things...but certainly livable, and manageable. Some people do have more severe cases though.

Have you taken a look at "what" you eat when you get stomach pains? It may be IBS but it could also be something else or it just could be as simple as stress or a combination of stress and something physical. I asked you if you took a look at what you eat when you get these stomach pains because I had a friend from college when he was 12 years old he would get sick to his stomach after eating. His mother after a couple of years of battling with some doctors found an internal specialist and found out he had Celiac Disease. It is controllable but it is the intestines inability to break down wheat, barley, flour, etc (much more to this disease than what I wrote). When we were in college he had to look at every single label on foods to make sure he did not get a reaction. I am not saying that is what you have but you really need to talk to your parents and find a doctor to find out what it is. I suggest that if you dont' feel any better each time a doctor tells you something then you find another one that will listen to you. It took my college friend and his mom to find a doctor that would listen for TWO years but that was back in the 80s.

Good luck to you.
