ParisPaulette
TUG O' WAR And so the reaper and I, we're in a showdown. Each of us standing on one side of my mother, And for every pull and tug his Deathness gives her I am there to pull her back and tell him NO! NOT TODAY. Yes, she will need to move on and I understand that. But whatever force of nature carried her through life Unscathed through so many things that would kill the rest of us Is still there living within me, burning like a flame I can't put out. I'm tired, she's tired, and then we see the look on Death's face, And we burst out laughing and vow to give the old bag of bones a run for his money. It's a stupid tug of war, but it's our tug of war, and we've never been women who behaved. Link to comment
mhowe
While I understand this OH so well --- it is not the Reaper who calls her. It is GRACE. And when you both are ready, she will be welcomed with open arms. For who would not be called back to GRACE, who has so freely given it all her life. Link to comment
journeynow
Very moving, ParisPaulette. Thank you. You and your mother are in my thoughts. (...and mine, diminished by a stroke, going blind, so stubborn......oh, the tug of war...) Link to comment
