Multi-paragraph email from him this morning, updating me on his running injury, 2.5 hour session with therapist, and how he sees what I was saying and is now ready to fix.

 

I shall offer no response.

 

... Except maybe a tuition bill? At least as a result of me leaving he is getting born.

To be honest ANYTHING you do is gonna bother/hurt him... if you reply you'll give him false hope and it'll hurt in the long run, if you ignore him hes obviously gonna feel hurt for awhile but after some times hes gonna leave you alone.
