Does it hurt not calling her on the phone?

My girlfriend and I have been going out for about 3 weeks. During this time we have always made plans using AIM, or in person. We send phone texts to each other a bit because we are often not able to talk on the phone. Today I told her that if she ever needs to talk to me she should feel free to call me. Her reply was "o.k. but i think the guy should always make the first call." So I was thinking of calling her but due to recent events I don't want to come on too strong. I was thinking of calling her after new years and just tell her happy new years and make small chat. But is it ok not to call her often?

you are both acting like twelve year olds. she's your girlfriend, call her. maybe she is shy about talking on the phone. keep calling her and she'll get used to it.

Just call her 2 or 3 times a week, because if you call like everyday... it gets annoying so limit your calls, ahah I sound like one of those people on phone commercials
