drahcir
I am friends with a girl I know was physically and emotionally abused repeatedly by her alcholic father. He father is now dead (died a couple of years ago) but she says she still loves him and misses him. I am also friends with a guy who was abused by his father. He hates his father. You even mention his father's name and its like putting a lit match to gasoline. He blows up. WHy is there this difference? Link to comment
Empathy
Is your other friend's father still alive? Sometimes death can really change your perspective on certain things and certain people whether it's rational or not. Link to comment
asdf
different kinds of abuse as well. some kids love their parents despite physical abuse (still want their approval, etc), others will hate their parents. Link to comment
San123
I was physically abused and still love(d) my parents immensly. A lot of it does have to do with desperately wanting/needing their approval. I also thought if I loved them enough then maybe that would help them to love me... Link to comment
i_hate_the_world47
Well, maybe your friend(who's father is dead)was abused in a different way than your other friend. Also,as previously mentioned, death can alter your perception. ~Meagan~ Link to comment
