melrich
It's going behind your partner's back and doing something with another person that you know he/she would not approve of. Could be physical interaction with another person, could be an emotional one. Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
Cheating is doing something with someone else that you would be uncomfortable doing in front of your partner, be it physical or emotional. Link to comment
SmartestVEGA
is telling lies is cheating ? Link to comment
renaissancewoman101
is telling lies is cheating ? telling lies CAN be considered cheating, esp if you are covering up stuff you are doing (hanging out with other women, hitting on them, etc), that you don't want your SO to know about. Also, lying does NOT do a relationship any good. Link to comment
SmartestVEGA
so if lies hurt the partner .. then? is it still cheating? Link to comment
arcadefire
I think lies involving hiding another relationship with someone other than you is cheating. Lying about family issues, career, or anything not related to relationships with another person is not cheating, although I still don't approve of lying. Link to comment
hmdreamer7
I didn't want to start another thread since this one has already started so... I always felt that cheating had to be a physical relationship with someone else. But in terms of emotional, say, you find that you SO was going on a date(s) with another person(s) and not telling you about it? Is that cheating? Link to comment
Bella4455
"dates" yes meeting a friend for coffee. not necessarily. It bowls down to what would your reaction and your SO's reaction be if they walked on whatever it was you were doing with that other person. Out at coffee, would your SO wave and join you? On a date, would your SO wave and join you? Would you be comfortable with it? Would the other person you were with? If the answer to any of these is no then it is probably cheating. Link to comment
Phillippa
I guess for me, cheating begins with secrets and lies. Coz that is where the deceit begins which leads to more lies, betrayal and cheating. Link to comment
ghost69
so if lies hurt the partner .. then? is it still cheating? no, that is abuse. Link to comment
