Just because she is into a different type of life doesn't mean you can't be friends. If she does things that you dislike and can't stand then that's a little different... but as far as just being friends again you can just try it out, see if it works or not.

Otherwise you might always think "what if...?"

 

I know this from experience as I lost complete contact with a close friend because I passed up the opportunity of getting to know them again.

Well not at first of course. But if things work out between you and you become closer you may feel like you can trust her a bit. Since you haven't seen her for a long time and she has changed quite a bit... your trust for her is faded.
