Imagine Christmas without your dad

That’s his Christmas oh so sad

Waking up with excitement and glee

But realizing it’s just mom and me

Where is my dad oh where could he be

Somewhere else, is it because of me

No son it’s just between dad and mom

Daddy’s trying but mom’s too far gone?

Maybe on Christmas she’ll finally want

A family and happiness all that I’ve got

But if not Daddy will be here alone

Know that I’m strong but my weakness has shown

Through all of my tears and all of my pain

Why is it I end up at this place again

My heart is so open my love is too bold

I wanted those words: “to have and to hold”

To have and to hold on this Christmas day

Maybe next year I’ll have it my way.
