BrokenWingedFaery
I know this may sound stupid, but I've researched this without getting a straight answer: Can you get HPV by giving a handjob/oral to an infected male (or similar activities with an infected female)? Link to comment
Anna.
I would assume that you couldn't by a handjob, but a blow job, I don't know. Link to comment
LostInMyThoughts
Yes you can get certain types of HPV via oral sex. You can contract herpes (a form of HPV) from oral sex. Link to comment
doyathink
The articles that have been posted here say that you can catch this virus through skin to skin contact! That would mean just by touching it! Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
Well, DYT, I did read that, but at the same time, I wanted to be sure. You can't blame me for wanting to be careful, can you? Link to comment
doyathink
lol...I agree BWF. It is scary isn't it? I can't imagine just kissing someone and having a throat full of this.... Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
What I think is more frightening is that there's asymptomatic strains of HPV, so you can't know if someone has it for sure or not. Also, some strains cause cervical cancer. While all STI/STD'S are scary, I think HPV is uber scary, mostly because of the link with it and cervical cancer, as well as the pics that the sex ed speaker showed us of those non-asymptomatic cases.... doyathink
yeah and the fact that it is so easy to catch.....KISSING?!?! I hate that! Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
No wonder so many people have it. Link to comment
LostInMyThoughts
Over 90% of sexually active adults will have contracted some form of HPV. That is why, for women, it's so *very very* important that you go for routine pap-smears when you become sexually active. I've heard that the chances of beating cervical cancer are very good if you detect it early on. Link to comment
