Asking a girl out

I have never asked a girl out before and a girl i like just transferred into my Study Hall period(a free period) from another class and she doesn't have any friends in this period. I don't know want to bluntly ask her out but I want to get to know her a bit. What's the best way to befriend her?

Perfect. Be the first to be her friend. Smile, talk, be friendly, etc. Walk along after class, etc. Act interested...ask her what her favorite class, teacher, whatever is and so on

 

No don't lurch out and say you like her or ask her out directly. You have to talk to girls a bit first otherwise it's creepy.

We have to stand in a line to sign in at the beginning of class, what would a good conversation starter be if I am standing next to her in line? or just a good conversation starter in general?
