I think if you text him right now with an apology, you're going to look kind of crazy. That's pouring more drama onto an already drama-packed situation.

 

I'd recommend giving this a rest for now. You can always send him an apology in a few weeks -- there's no hurry.

 

I think you'll miss him a lot less when you become interested in someone else. Until then, I'd fight the urge to contact him for a while. Give it some space.
