What do you do in this situation

Recommended Posts

Say you're job hunting, and then you get a job that you've been in the process of trying to get for about a few weeks. Multiple phone interviews, face to face interviews, assessments, etc. The pay is mediocre but you'll take it because it's the best thing you found so far. You start Monday, or next Monday, or whatever, you start soon. During your first week there, you get callbacks from other employers, with significantly better pay (an extra $10,000/year).

How on earth do you go about attending interviews for these places? Do you tell them you currently have a job or do you tell your current employer you have a "doctor's appointment" or something...? And let's say the job is 9-5 and they only schedule interviews from 9-5 so it's not like you can schedule a really early or really late interview... :S

ground rules, your current job cannot know what your upto. but you can let your interview know your dilemma; i think that may work. find out how long the interview will be, maybe you can adjust your current schedule to meet the interview. if its a morning interview, tell your current job that you have to pick up you aunt at the airport at 9am and can report for work at noon .. something like that. dr's appointment is good too.
