Doing something with a girl I like

There is a girl who I have known for years but we have only reconnected in the past four months. Since then we have hung out on a few occations in groups with other people and chatted online now and then. I kinda like her and want to hang out with her (just us) or ask her out or something. How can I flirt with her and can I ask her to do something other then a conventional first date, like something that I think would be less awkward.

I think anyway you could go with this will seem like an awkward "convention first date" as long as you think it will be that way. Bring something up like a concert that you want to go to where it is just you two, but still there are other people around
