Dougie_D
I've never done real acting..but I'm pretty sure I could do it fairly well. I have a headshot, but not affiliated with a talent agency. Also, I want to be a country songwriter making hits. I can come up with a tune, but I have problems with actual lyrics. What would you do? jenny_mcs
You should audition for a part in a community theatre play, and also try to write an actual song or two. Link to comment
Dougie_D
i don't do theatre. That's what I don't like. I specificly just want to be in film and t.v. I don't want to be the main character. Just that guy in the crowd that has one or two lines. I failed acting in college because I didn't really care about learning the lines...I wasn't getting paid for it!...but when we had to do a mandatory audition, I was runner up for a part. I had never acted or did anything like that, but the other guy had acted for years. Link to comment

That's like me saying- oh, I don't want to be a worker in the company and gain experence, I want to immediately be president of the company. It is incredibly competitive to get paid work as an actor, even if it is only a few lines. You are basically saying you have zero acting experience and failed acting in college, but you want to get paid to do it. It's not going to happen that way, sorry. Link to comment
agent1607307371
Neither are easy. Both are paths filled with people who have talent, actually put the work in and still never make any money from it. Join and extras agency. You can be the man in the crowd and get a couple of bucks. Dougie_D
then how do you get an acting role? You have to try out? Where can I try out? So what your saying is, an agency won't pick me up because I have no experience? I've heard of people being in movies before and I have never acted before. I'm just looking for some casting calls...but sometimes you have to have an agency. Link to comment
agent1607307371
Then get a teacher and get involved in showcases - agents send along people to scope the talent out. Or, check your paper and related media for open casting sessions. Most actors spend most of their time unemployed, so I wouldn't quit your job for a role though. Link to comment
Dougie_D
I don't have a job. I quit about a month and a half ago. I was depressed and wanted to kill myself because I had the job. I also quit because I could be mobile, where I didn't have to ask for a "day off." What do you mean a teacher and showcase? That means money. Link to comment
agent1607307371
Basic fact of life: you don't get anything for nothing. Just check out open castings then. Or, maybe go to a drama class and see if you can even act. Or even enjoy it. Link to comment

In order to work your way up to a paid role, start with community theatre. Audition for the fall or winter play. Link to comment

Miss Firecracker
I love that photo. You are very handsome. No wonder a girl asked you to dance with her. Off topic but I hoped you wouldn't mind. Link to comment
