Villanelles.

Hi Redrose --

I had to write a villanelle in college. Unfortunately, it was about 13 years ago, so I don't know where it went, but..you're right, it's hard.

Here's an example of one, a very famous example:

Dylan Thomas' "Do Not Go Gentle into That Good Night." .

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Old age should burn and rave at close of day;

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,

Because their words had forked no lightning they

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright

Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,

And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight

Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,

Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.

Do not go gentle into that good night,

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

lol that's the one I was using as a template.Well, here is the draft.

Snow Angels

Outside, twinkling stars beaming

Brightly, winter sky glows

We watch the children dreaming

In the yard, the snowman leans

He knows where the children go

Outside, twinkling stars beaming

Delighted children shriek and scream

Their sled slides fast over the snow

We watch the children dreaming

Now homeward they are marching

The rickety sled in tow

Outside, twinkling stars beaming

Children’s weary, chubby faces gleam

Ignoring their tiny frozen toes

We watch the children dreaming

Lost in their peaceful winter scene

We watch, wondering where they go

Outside, twinkling stars beaming

We watch the children dreaming
