This was recently read to my wife.
Our relationship has disintegrated.
With these rings, I thee wed,
In the past, this was once said.
For a period of time, we were one,
Time has passed, now that life is done.
(name), I thank you for your time with me,
Regardless if it was sorrow or glee.
The journey thus far has been great,
Only small parts would I negate.
Sometimes the things that we cherish,
Seem most important when they perish.
With this death, comes a greater understanding,
That this world is cruel, and relationships are demanding.
This gaping wound will need to heal,
It will give us strength, and again we will feel.
How can I explain and let you know,
How painful it is that our bond has let go?
