It also depends on the girl; if she's outgoing or shy, and the same to you.

Follow your own speed. Things work best when they happen naturally. When you are comfortable asking, ask. Sometimes it will happen fast, other times it will happen slow. Both ways are fine, as long as there is a connection with the other person.

After you talk to her a few times and you feel she's giving you "buying signals," I'd ask her for her number or to go have some coffee. The idea is that it's all about how she feels (and how you make her feel). I think waiting too late though, could be a bad thing. As long as you're not at the extreme of either spectrum (too early, or far too late), you'd good. I can say however, too late is probably better than too early.

just make sure you do ask her out eventually. If you're shy, do it soon, because if you're shy and you think you just let it happen naturally, it never will.
