I don't know if its a good idea tho, as I myself have gotten into a problem of checking to see if she is online, or her new bf is online. I can say it doesn't seem healthy for me. Depends on what others think, if its a good idea or not. I don't want you obsessing like I have done. If you need to know so you can move on with your life, then thats another story I guess. If your just going to use it for blackmail, then I don't advise it. It also works with msn, icq and yahoo messengers. (there are some restrictions tho). Link to comment

I should add that if he's deleted you, there's no way for you to know that. But he'll still be able to 'accept' messages from you if you message him, if he chooses to. Link to comment
