I think I might get fired

Ugh!

 

an internal audit discovered my team was making a mistake and it turns out the whole team was not following the proper procedure. When it came to my attention I escalated it to my manager. I've been working to document and correct all the issues but i think the damage is done.

 

Anyone else ever been in this situation? Have any advice on how to handle to save my career? Or how to handle if I DO get fired.

I haven't been in that situation before, but if I was suspecting a probable lay off within my department, I would be sharpening up my interview skills and fixing up my resume ASAP.

What IS your career? The fact that you're the one that discovered it and then escalated it should probably work in your favor, no? Unless you're the manager/team leader and they blame you.
