how do i talk to him

there is a really totally hot boy that i have liked for a couple of months now and i know that we have a few things in common and he isn't like super popular and out of my reach but i never know how to talk to him and i try to be myself around him but whenever i try to talk to him i can't really find my personality or whatever. i am so stuck and i don't even know what kind of girls he likes. HELP!!!!!!!!

I am probably not the best person for advice, but I have recently managed to hold a semi normal conversation with my crush..basically i took the approach of being myself, not trying to impress him..and it worked, i probably babble a bit, but whocares, at the end of the day u want him to fall in love with you.. so try and be natural.
