In some "rural" parts of the country those are all the same person Family/friend/lover turns out to be cousin cletus.

But for me family is most important. Family is permanent, it's not going to leave you for someone more sexy, it provides support, it gives you advice, it plays the role of friend (at least in my case).

Lover, I'd like to think of a lover as the very best friend a person can have.

Friend, such a broad word and there are so many depths of friendship, at least from my experience.

Ideally I would want someone who is all three. You meet someone who becomes a really good friend. That friendship grows until you get married, when you become family and lovers. If you have children then the family grows.

A true friend is the most important. He or she is the one who is their when you need somone, when your happy and when your sad. If your lucky that friend may be family or a lover.

For me I'm an overseas student,

I'm a Chinese I came to New Zealand almost 2 years,

I think I have the different situation with other people,

Because the first day I came to here is also the first day for my 19's birthday.

At the beginning, course my course did not beginning, so I have rest of time, also I have coz the different time zone, I always got up in the early morning, which my host family are still bed.

Sometimes I walk out from the house, and just for some free walks, take some pictures which I feel newly, cars, cats, playground, school, teenager, houses.

At that time I have nothing. Family, love, friend.

At that time I'm lack of language for communication with each other, so I feel quit lonely~~

Well, up to percent, to me the friend is the most important thing to me

My australian/western culture upbringing is definitely a factor in who I value.

I value my family by respecting them,

I value my friends because I love them,

A lover? I may as well be a priest.

I've lifed life without friends, but without family it would have been impossible. I feel eastern culture has a history of obligation rather than support and love, I could see why this would be different perhaps for you.
