winchester3
Is there a difference between the male and female physical standards with regards to being a fire fighter. Or is it a standard physical test regardless of gender? My friend was saying that females have a lower physical standard then males when it comes to fire fighting. She rang off a bunch of examples about the difference in standards. Does anyone else have any insight on this matter that they could share? Link to comment
just M.E.
It may be a local variation, from what I have heard, here, they have the same. Link to comment
CaptainPlanet
Female standards generally lower. Same with police force in Aus. Ambulance drivers too. Link to comment
ghost69
no. they did drop the standards for women though. they apply to males too though. the requirements are just lower physically now. you get the job from passing the written and ultimately the interview. it's all about who you know. 15 Storeys High
Ambulance drivers are called Paramedics. Over here the fitness tests are the same for male and female. In our service anyway. Link to comment
winchester3
Lower standards are hardly fair to those husky people trapped in a raging fire. Link to comment
