BrokenWingedFaery
Neither thing is good. Both are too harsh for piercings. Use mild soap (Savlon, Dial) in the shower and a couple of sea salt soaks a day instead. Link to comment
lilgothicdevil5533
hmmmm... ok Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
Sea salt soaks would have helped me tremendously when I got my ears pierced. So would have not getting my ears gunned, wearing crappy jewelry, and using those harsh cleaners. I was much stupider then, before getting the internet and finding BME and BAF and learning all this stuff. Link to comment
lilgothicdevil5533
yeah, i get my ears gunned. they messed it up once and i ended up taking it out and letting it close. i try not to wear crappy jewelry. if i do i only wear it for a day and take them out before i sleep. now i have three piercings-and im getting more- on my ear. two on my right and one on my left Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
I have my lobes pierced, for the moment, they're the only piercings I have. I'm stretching them and my goal size is an inch. Link to comment
lilgothicdevil5533
gaugeing them? ow. some of my friends are trying to do that. i have my lobes pierced to..so i guess i was 5 piercings. but i dont wear earings in them Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
Stretching, and it doesn't hurt. At least, not if you do it right. Link to comment
RelaxByWater84
Actually the needles aren't a good idea cuz one of my friend had her ear professionly pierced and they used needles and she had soo many problems with her ears and she had to let them grow shut. The second time she got hers pierced she the store gunned them and she didn't have any problems. Oh and using soap didn't help my ears, it only made them worse, only the stuff the store gave me worked. Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
Whoa whoa whoa, needles are good for ears, guns are bad. Guns force a semi-sharp stud thru flesh, needles slide smoothly thru. She may have used the wrong aftercare, or had jewelry that gave her problems, but that doesn't mean guns are good. Oh yes, and micro splatter is a lovely thing. That's where the guns, which force that stud thru, end up with splatters of blood/tissue on them, which is passed onto the next person. link removed an infection that was caused by using a gun to pierce cartilidge. link removed and the risks of using a piercing gun. lilgothicdevil5533
like i said before. if differs for people. sometimes guns are good for others and sometimes they arnt. i had all mine gunned and no problems. well except for one. and i agree with coffee. soap doest work for me. it irrates me. not everyone is like u. BrokenWingedFaery
You CANNOT sterilize a gun. The only time guns are remotely acceptable is when they're single use and actually used that way and only on lobes. "not everyone is like u." I never said everyone was (in fact, I'm rather glad everyone else isn't). What I've been writing here is coming from people other than myself. Like hundreds of other people, including professional piercers and people with years and years of experience with mods. Go ahead and get your ears gunned, use alcohol to clean em and wear jewelry that the APP says is inappropriate for piercings. It's not my body *shrugs* Edited to include: I wouldn't go to a piercer who used a gun anyway, when the APP has said needles are better. Link to comment
elaineska
Wow, I never knew that about piercing guns! Mine were gunned. I first got my ears pierced when i as 12 and they got infected and closed up... maybe that was why?? Anyway, this time seems to be alright. My ears aren't sore or anything. Once in a while they will ooze a little. (eww) Thanks for the info everyone!! Link to comment
Newo Ikkin
Gunning is perfectly fine for lobes...with cartilage it is vital a needle is used to prevent collapsing of the ear. If your piercing studio does not use disposable guns, and re-uses them instead, they should not have a licensce. Link to comment
BrokenWingedFaery
Gun are barely acceptable for lobes. I know alot of people get their gunned without problems, but needles are still the best way to go. Link to comment
