How long a first date should it be?

I've read it somewhere that first date shouldn't be too long, 2 hours max. Is there such thing? If we have much to talk about while having coffee, is it up to me to bring it to an end, so that there's more to go for on the 2nd date? Thanks.

I have never heard of this before. But it could be true. They say a first phone call should be really short as well. It is probley good because then it makes the other person want more. Also you don't end up in a dead spot because you spend so much time at first.

I would think that for your first date, you'd want to do something active, like putt-putting or something... where you aren't constantly talking and talking. It's not exactly a sit-down/conversation date, so if you know what you're doing, you shouldn't be talking about yourself and her a lot.
