Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here has ever worked in HR, or knows someone who does. I am thinking about enrolling in a master's program for Human Resource Development and wanted some more information on HR in general, as I have not done any undergraduate coursework in this field nor do I have any relevant experience.

Can anyone here give me some info on what it's like to work in HR, salary info, etc..???

Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

HR is about managing a company's employees, and focuses on the following areas:

- HR Planning

- Reward management

- Performance management

- Disciplinary/Grievance Procedures

- Learning and Development

- Corporate Social Responsibility

- Organisational Culture

- Change management/damage control

- Health and Safety

I took a module on this for the last semester of 2009, and it was quite interesting. to me, the most important part is HR planning, since all other functions of HR stem from this. Any good textbook would give you a grounding in it. The one I used was this one - link removed
