Ageless Fantasy - Perfume That Makes Women Feel Younger

    By Margarita Nahapetyan

Harvey Prince Co. of New York has come out with the new fragrance, perfectly called Ageless Fantasy, the very first ever "anti-aging perfume." The perfume is designed to make a woman seem and feel much younger than her age - on average 8 years younger - simply by her smell.

According to Kumar Ramani, president of Harvey Prince, when men and women start getting older, the chemistry of their body changes, resulting in a production of a chemical known as "noneal." This chemical is responsible for a body odor, which, once individuals pass the age of 40, gets less and less pleasant. "A teenage girl has a scent like a flower that attracts bees. But when a woman gets older, her scent changes, and the signal she sends out is that she is married and not looking for a mate," Ramani said, and added that the new perfume "Ageless" is designed to reduce this very noneal scent.

A founder of Harvey Prince based his conclusions on clinical trials that have been conducted in 2008 and involved 75 men with the ages between 20 and 60 years. In the research, that examined men's perception of certain fragrances, the women had to wear a particular scent, such as vanilla, rose, patchouli, blueberry, apple and other aromas, while men had to say how old they thought the woman would be.

The results showed that the scent of a rose reminded the majority of men of their grandmother, and lavender was similarly associated with older ladies with grey hair. However, the citrus smells, and in particular a scent of pink grapefruit, have been perceived as young and exciting. Testing a range of fragrances, Harvey Prince found that scents such as grapefruit and mango registered high on the youth scale. Pink grapefruit was associated with youth by all, Ramani said. We were only concentrating on age perception, he added, and, based on the findings, we had to eliminate everything that was somehow associated with old age and chose the ones that were related to a younger lady.

Ageless Fantasy's key components are pink grapefruit, pineapple, mango, apple, leafy green, and pomegranate The middle notes of the fragrance are jasmine, lily of the valley, cherry blossom, and peony, and the end notes are soft musk, precious woods, and vanilla.

Ramani says that the fragrance notes of Ageless Fantasy are extremely exciting, providing more energy and uplifting, therefore making women feel young as well as smell young. As paradoxically as it may sound, Ramani says, but buying more expensive perfumes can actually make a woman seem older. The explanation is very simple. The older women become, the more money they generally have, thus preferring to buy more sophisticated and high-class perfumes. However, these are not the perfumes that usually are chosen by young girls. And since those classic perfumes have been around for a certain period of time, they may remind a man of something that has been worn by his mother, or even grandmother, Ramani says.

The new perfume, Ageless Fantasy, has completely different effect, and Ramani jokes that it should come with an accompanying warning instruction: "If you put too much on your woman, she will smell like a 17-year-old, and that would be illegal!"
