A 5 year age difference at that point in your lives may already cause problems, even moreso since it's you who's 5 years younger than her. Despite the fact that you say you are mature, it is common knowledge that women mature faster than men, so it still might cause difficulties. Personally, at 22 I would never date a 17 year old.

If you are in love it shouldnt matter how large the age gap is in my opinion. I dated a guy who was 4 years older than me for almost 3 years..and although he was the one who was older it didnt matter nor do i think it should matter if its the other way around. I have a friend who is in a relationship with someone who is 13 years older. Best of luck to you, just go with the flow of the relationship.
