  1. image removed This pool under a small waterfall (though when it rains, the watefall can be thunderous) is quite shallow. However, the green emitting from the growing algae and moss gives it depth and enchantment.
  2. Thanks. What happened to your camera? I need to get mine cleaned. I have a sensor dust that is annoying the heck out of me.
  3. Let me resurrect this thread. image removed A peacock at the local zoo.
  4. Thanks capbit! image removed Do Go Chasing Waterfalls I've always loved the soft, wispy, ghostlike effect on waterfalls. My first attempt at this. When I have the time, I'll venture out to take pictures of a real waterfall. This one is man-made and located in downtown.
  5. image removed Chasing a broken rainbow hoping to find that chimeric pot of gold.
  6. Thanks, Wolf! It's all right. My laptop is being stupid anyway.
  7. image removed I thought I was too late for the season, but there were still a few trees left with these beautiful cherry blossoms.
  8. Wolf, Can't tell you. But I'm thinking if you have a filter on your lens, the green is probably a reflection of the moon. I have had something like that happened to me casting a green glow when I shot the moon with my filter on.
  9. I love the composition in this, the orange against the green.
  10. That's a great sports shot! It would have been perfect if the players were in focus.
  11. image removed I had my WB setting wrong and my moon turned blue. I actually like how this image turned out.
  12. No, my camera didn't come with an editing software because I bought it used though still in mint condition. For now I only use the free version of GIMP so all my photos are pretty much not heavily post-processed with the exception of maybe sharpening, unmasking, and contrasting. I looked into getting photoshop, but that's a cost of my other arm and leg. LoL
  13. I like the Daisy. Yes, you should definitely invest in a macro filter (or lens if you have the money). I was looking into getting a macro lens but they are so expensive and so out of my budget! I wanted to test out my macro photography skills first before shelling out my arm and leg for the lens. My next equipment since I like macro so much will be extension tubes. I hear they give far better images and you can get much closer to an object than macro filters (though still not as prime as a true macro lens). Hmmm - I'll have to shoot in RAW one day. Nice EquestrianDynamo!
  14. image removed One more refraction (kind of abstract), a palm leaf inside a droplet riding on the tail of a scraggy rose leaf.
  15. Nice Bad Wolf. Yes, LightDrawer means what you think it means. LoL As to what file format I shoot in, just the basic JPEG. I'm not too familiar with RAW. I know a lot of the professional photographers shoot in Raw. I still need to read up on the difference between RAW and JPEG.
  16. Thank you Bad Wolf. I've always had an interest in photography, but just couldn't really afford the equipment until just two months ago. I am shooting with just a Nikon D40 and my equipment is very basic, the standard kit lens (18-55mm) and a macro filter. For the refraction photo, I only used natural lighting from the ceiling lamps. Yes, I shot this in the kitchen at midnight my time! I had my setting to manual mode and manual focus, and camera mounted on a tripod to avoid hand shake. I was a bit surprised that it turned out ok.
  17. Thanks Bad Wolf. He's only friendly to family members. That beak of his is deathly. I like the second one of the close-up of the little duckling. I love macro/close-up photography. image removed Inspired by some of the macro enthusiasts at Flickr. A needle with a drop of a refracted yellow daisy.
  18. image removed The flight. This is Bunky, a tropical parrot. His wings are clipped, so taking off on his own is a huge feat. But in this shot, with a little encouragement and a lot of coaxing (like throwing him in the air), he was soaring. image removed The landing.
  19. image removed I caught palm trees swaying and waving good-bye to a sunset that just set over the horizon. It left a smokey afterglow.
  20. image removed Ahh - I finally did it. The above is a Crown of Thorns floret. It's super tiny. The biggest bud measure at only half a cm.
  21. OK, thanks. I will be back when I earn enough post counts to link URLs.
  22. Nice Bad Wolf. What setting do you use to get that wispy flow of the waterfall? I want to post some pictures too, but I keep getting a message that I'm not allow to link URLs.
  23. MissIndigo, what camera and lens are you using to do your close-ups?
