I'm just going to cut to the chase. Give her the space that she asked for. Let her contact you and don't contact her unless she initiates. This way you respect her decision and you don't come accross as being pushy.

Don't overthink your situation because that will do more harm than good and eventually your emotions will boil over and you'll do something stupid.

Sit back and try to carry on with your internship and other activities in your life. She's an adult and will carry on her own business, so there's not much you can actively do. And I think you understand the situation better than you think, so again don't over-analyze and live your life.
