puff.tm.dragon
There's always a balance in the world right? I mean, there's the average and then the above and below average...Why is it that I have to be below average? This friend of mine sees the Fibonacci Sequence in a song and even wrote 2-3 paragraph to explain it. Of course, I could only understood very little. His life is so great and I am failing. Who sees math in a song? A freakin genius that's who. Who sucks at life? Me. Link to comment
AwdreeHpburn
Puff - I missed seeing your avvy and reading your posts - feels like its been a while. About your post tho - Are you kidding?? Who sees math in a song? NO one - that's who. Or everyone. I don't think that says anything about you tho - dude, you're a god here.... Whether you see math in songs or not! take that Puff's genius friend! Link to comment
puff.tm.dragon
Woot! yeah take that! btw. It's a song on the album Laterus by Tools. He matches the sequence (0,1,1,2,3, etc) to its length (time in seconds) and sequence of lyrics (something about syllables). And spirals...something about spirals. Link to comment
Locke2121
I can look right at the Fibonacci Sequence and can't understand it, much less hear it in a song. But I can throw HR tactics around in my head like confetti, bust a target an inch accross with a rifle from a hundred yards away. I can cook like a master chef, flirt with the best of 'em, fish, hunt and track like an ol' backwoodsman and a dozen other things that alot of people can't do as well as me. No one is completely below average Puff. Link to comment
Maverick32x
a philosophy of mine that i strongly live by is the fact that everyone needs to validate their life only in themselves... so many people try to compare their lives to others and try to validate their existence depending on what others think, feel, expect ect..... Start being happy with the things YOU Are good at, and the things you can accomplish.... People will always be better than you, and people will always be worse than you.... its all about perspective.... ps: your friend is just weird Link to comment
Jetta
Wow cool friend. Come on now you know you're not below average. Link to comment

chickidee23
Being normal and average is SO over-rated!! Maybe if you concentrate on and fine tune the talents and wonderful abilities you have, you won't feel so average or below. Everyone has something amaznig about them- go find out what yours is!!!! boomvang
Hey Puff, here's some food for thought. If you are driving your car on a two-lane road at 65 mph, and oncoming cars in the other lane match that speed for a steel-and-bone-crushing combined velocity of 130 mph, remember this one thing: half those cars are being driven by someone who is below average. Happy motoring! Link to comment
Daligal83
Just because your friend can do that, doesn't mean that he's great at everything. Maybe he's a horrible artist, or uncomfortable around a lot of people, or not too intuitive. Everyone is great at something and not as great at other things. That's what makes people interesting. astaro
why would anyone want to be normal? i am proud of being a weirdo, normal is awfully boring Link to comment

Who sees math in a song? A freakin genius that's who. Who sucks at life? Me. As a musician and partly mathematician I can tell you that it's more important to understand and remember how does the music "feels". That way even if you change the melody and tones, you can still play the same emotions. I bet you can't describe that using mathemathics. ;-) Link to comment
Fisch
Tool wrote Lateralus with strong ties to the Fibonacci sequence on purpose its no big secret, and I doubt that your friend discovered it on his own. Tool is well known to be the most pretentious progressive rock band out there, and personally I find their ideas annoyingly elitist, smug, and psuedo-intelligent. You can go read about it on Wikipedia if you want! Dont get life out of perspective, you are building others up and putting yourself down. Ironically it is that very emotion which is the main thing that will hold you back, and success that will get rid of that emotion. So find what you love, what you are good at, and most importantly find a way to believe in yourself. Link to comment
