Pee Test Positive; Blood Test Negative

Could be a spontanious miscarraige.... or even a pee stick that was defective. If the blood test says there is no pregnancy then there is not enough of the hormone it looks for present in the blood. They are probably doing an ultrasound to see whats going on in there. If she did miscarry they should be able to determine that too.

Sorry you are going through this, Im sending her good wishes.

A blood test is far more effective than a wee stick - how long has it been between the two? Days? Weeks?

HCG will remain in the blood stream much longer than in the urine, and will decrease rapidly as the days pass following a miscarriage.

There is a chance of a defective urine test, there is not much chance of a false negative test however.

Yah, the blood test is supposedly 100% sure so its pretty likely that she isn't pregnant. I heard that some birth controls and taking alot of folic acid can make the pee stick appear positive, I base that on no scientific evidence whatsoever tho.

Okay. I asked because some types of fertility medication contains hcg.

She most likely miscarried a very, very early pregnancy. In the event that she didn't, have her test again in a couple of days, and if it's still showing up positive, have her go back for another blood test. I've heard that some nurses will say a woman is not pregnant if the hcg levels are very, very low.

Is her period late?
