Yvette84 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 So I took some of your advice and bought some primrose capsules for my PMS.....thing is I'm kinda scared to take em. anybody have any personal experience with it?? are their any important facts or risks I should know about it?? how has it helped you?? I know I can google it, but I wanted to hear from people who've actually taken it. Oh...and how do you take it for PMS??? like how often and when do you start??? how long does it take to kick in?? thanks!!
Honey Pumpkin Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hi Yvette, I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil for years - no ill effects whatsoever! I don't take the super strength ones, just a 500mg once a day. It helps with mood swings, and also you get great nails as well (I do anyway!). I had a quick look on google, there are no apparent side effects to it - I know loads of women who take it! I also take zinc and vitamin b for pms and mood swings - that seems to help. The biggest thing for me though is cutting right back on caffeine, and getting enough sleep and exercise etc. Irritating but true! Cheers.
katie831 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 i used to take them and not only did it help a bit with my mood swings but you get lovely shiny hair and healthy nails as well! just take 500 mg once a day and you should be fine.
Juliana Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 My cousin and I both took it, and what we found was that it was something we had to take breaks from, because after a week or two, we started getting hyperactive, not able to sleep, etc. So we take it when we start to feel run down and low energy, but we don't take it all the time. Other than that, we quite enjoyed it.
katie831 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 also if you take the capsules you can break them open and use the oil inside to soothe dry skin, a bit like vitamin E oil
