When and how did you become Princess Mensies for the fist time?

Recommended Posts

I started when I was 13. In fact it was on my 13th birthday and I was in the dressing room at our local Wal-Mart. My mom always carried extra pads so it was fine, but what a gift, and of all the places to get it. However it did totally explain why I was bloated and grouchy the day before.

My mum has always been very open about sex and bodily functions, so I did not feel afraid or embarrassed about talking to her and I went to her immediately. I was actually excited about getting it at the time,

Me too! I was the last out of my friends to start, so I was excited to finally "catch up." Put up with it for a few years, then discovered the joy of Depo Provera! I'm one of the lucky ones that has no periods at all (not to brag). I know it's not natural, but it saves me stress and money.

I was 14 (late bloomer, lucky me)..it happened right before going to dance class...so I ran to the nearest drugstore to buy some tampons so I wouldn't miss my ballet lesson !! Really didnt think much of it....maybe because I was already 14 and it only seemed normal it would finally happen at the time. Didnt even tell my mom about it...

I was in 5th grade, and had just turned 11 yrs old when I started having periods.

So , uh, I have been going through this monthly cycle for lets see,,,,,38 years!!!

Thank goodness I am on the downhill side of things now. I am in the perimenopausal period of life. I deal now with the night sweats, hot flashes, mood swings, and erratic periods. I have had one period in the last nine or ten months now.

Some people say that women will miss having periods and have this some what " let down " feeling once they are in menopause. For me though, I don't think I am gonna miss it at all. At that point there will be no more having to buy pads/ tampons, no more times when the period comes at the worst time ever, no more worrying about getting pregnant. If I can ever get through a full 12 months with no period I am pretty much done with having periods and my reproductive system will have shut down completely. I pray for another 9 months of no periods so that I can consider myself done with this monthly ordeal.

I had just turned 12. I grew up in Florida and every year the 7th grade went on a field trip south to the keys to someplace called Sea Camp. There it is fun in the water, close living to your classmates, supervised by teachers and a good 8 hour drive from home.

I went to the bathroom and saw the blood. I freaked out. I couldnt go in the ocean! not with sharks smelling blood for miles away!!!!

Soooooooo it was so embarrissing, I simply HAD to tell a teacher and then she took me to the teachers cabin where the other female teachers were and we called my parents and told my mom on the phone.

They asked her if it was okay for me to wear tampons and the teacher even freaking told me how to use it. If I were to wear pads adn stay out of the water, Im sure the other kids would have known something was up not to mention the cost of a field trip that would have been for nothing. It was so so so embarrissing. I begged my mom not to tell my dad. By the time I got home, my dad and my brothers and who knows who else knew all about it. I was mad at my mom for months.

To this day I hate pads. I never could get used to wearing a diaper. The only time I have used them is after giving birth and the entire time I feel like it is totally disgusting. Its not the same 'clean' feeling.

Southerngirl, I couldnt agree more with your hate of pads but since i've had my son I simply cannot wear a tampon to save my life though. I had trouble before but now it isn't possible without being in excruciating pain.

Your post made me laugh although i'm sure it wasn't meant to be funny though! especially about the sharks .. Im easily amused Sorry LOL

I felt so sick at myself and dirty that I couldn't eat my dinner. I havent changed.

Aw, sweetie, I know is disgusting and a pain in the butt. I don't understand why so many people romanticize it. Even write poetry and songs about it. And celebrate it. And think is memorable. Seriously, what's next? Sonets to snot? The day of the fart? "My first diarrhea" photo albums? Odes to phlegms? "Happy baby's first poop" gift cards?

Lol, thank you for picking up on that in such a cute light. That really made me laugh.

Its always made me feel unaturally ashamed of myself. I dont know why, and cant explain it properly. But due to it I get extra fuss from my fiance. Cant all be bad!
