Don't know how to say goodbye.

I don't know what to do. My ex and I are broken up, this has happened numerous times. Each time he breaks up with me, and then time goes by, and he realizes it wasn't what he wanted, and he comes back. But a bunch of things have happened so that it's pretty much unfixeable now. Basically there was a big misunderstanding, and things got out of hand, and set off a chain of events that no one can take back. I want to get back togehter, but I know that there's no way we ever could, now. I know it isn't the right thing to do. But I don't know what to say or how to face him when we meet. I feel like we could be friends, or maybe I should just say goodbye forever. I dont' know. Any thoughts? Or maybe I should just call him and tell I can't meet, and that will be that..?

You seem firm in your decision that it needs to be over. If you feel like you might not be strong enough at this point to keep it that way, then maybe NC is a good idea. But you don't have to make it ugly. You can tell him just that. You think its better if you just don't meet for a while until you know that you guys are strong enough to maintain a healthy friendship. It doesnt have to be forever. but maybe for some time...

your heart is telling you it's time to just move on. so follow your heart. you sound pretty sure that you two shouldn't be anymore then friends. so go with it. sometime there is to much damage to rekindle some relationships. it doesn't have to be forever, but if you feel this isn't the time right now then you cannot pretend. i say you just try no contact. good luck!
