Alcoholism?...Definitions..

Ok, so I happen to come from a family that drinks. Mainly at social family events but with my mother and father it is much more than that.

 

What defins alcoholism? Is it when a person goes through a bottle and a half of wine every night ? Or when they can easily go through a 26er of vodka in a night? Or both?

 

I am only 20 and I almost always have alcohol in the house, usually cider...but whatever floats your boat right? I know exactly how long I have gone without having a drink, and I know I crave a glass or three at the end of a long day....

 

Am I destined to become a mirror of my parents?

I have heard the clinical definition is averaging 4 standard glasses per day or more. A standard glass varies depending whether it is wine (200ml), beer (280ml) or spirits (30ml).

I have researched this question up the wazoo.... you have no idea..lol

 

the only consistant definition i have come up with is that- too much alcohol is too much alcohol when it affects your relationships, job, and personality.

 

Maybe someone else has heard differently?

well i almost always give in to my cravings....it just feels too damned good .... =S

haahaa...well not all cravings...i am in a solid relationship with a very loving guy...im living with him actually...its just the drinking...=S

A simple definition is that you need alcohol rather than just want it.
