Hello

I really like this guy at work ,he walks by looks my way and has a smile on face gives a wave, well I started to chat him up saying hi back then after a couple of weeks he told me he is just divorced he seem to want to talk and i ask'd him if he wanted my number he was taken a back well I did't give my number. he still smiles & waves ,what should I do? I am newly divorce too after 24 years ,this was the first time I had ever done this

did I do something wrong?I get the feeling he really likes me too ! I feel like a teenager

Maybe it needs to start out as a friendship. Ask him if he would like coffee, just to sit and talk, or go for a long walk. Get to know him first. He seems interested, but he could be just friendly or wanting to talk to someone.

Perhaps you misinterpreted his friendliness for an interest he doesn't have.

 

It's also possible he just doesn't date co-workers. (Dating co-workers is generally not a good idea, and there are some people who refuse to do so...There's a reason the phrase "don't get your honey where you get your money" was coined.)

 

In any event, I'm thinkin' your best course of action right now is to pretend it never happened. Be friendly, be polite....but be professional and keep your part of any future interaction mostly (if not strictly) business-related.

 

If you're ready to jump into the dating pool, you might want to consider looking outside of your workplace. I've found life is a lot simpler if you keep a good solid wall between "work" and "personal."

 

That having been said, I did the date a co-worker thing twice. First time was cool. No one ever found out and when we stopped dating we did so amicably and were able to go back to being just co-workers with no problem at all. The second time....a mess. It was a contributing factor to me leaving a job I'd been in for over 15 years.

thanks I kept my distance all day and i will keep doing so i think it will be for the best ,. i was married so young and never really dated anyone except my ex he ask me to marry him after 2 weeks that was 24 years ago! so life for me is going to be strange for me ,i am use to being a couple.
