onewithbooks
Hello all, I slept on my shoulder wrong a few nights ago and ever since then my shoulder has hurt. It hurts to reach out and to wash my hair, take of my shirt, brush my hair, basically to do anything that requires me to raise my hand above chin level. Has anyone else had this? If so, how did you rememdy it. This hurts so bad, a few times i had tears stinging my eyes. Thanks! L~ Link to comment
RayKay
Just give it time, the pressure from sleeping on it wrong probably inflamed it, or you may have a pinched nerve. My boyfriend has done the same thing more than once! Be careful with it, and don't add any extra weight or movement above head for a few days....but if it is STILL bothering you next week, go and see a physiotherapist. Link to comment
onewithbooks
Thanks RayKay. I have managed to do this before, but usually the next day its gone. Its never lasted this long. I would put on some Ben Gay, but that reeks of old lady. Of course i work with old ladies, so people might not realize it was me who was whiffing, but assume one of the others was the potent perpatrator. L~ Link to comment

HA! If you have done it a few times, you may be developing a repetitive strain injury of sorts. Shoulders are tricky joints, as most people don't really work on their rotator cuffs and so their shoulders can be prone to injuries due to weaker stabilizers. I would definitely consider seeing a physiotherapist as they can give you some easy exercises to do to help the joint strengthen and reduce the risks of doing some long term damage to the joint. brando
I can relate to the shoulder injury. I slept on mine the wrong way or for too long, and i wake up sometimes with excruciating pain that lasts more than a few days. I try to stretch my shoulders gently, nothing to extreme to losen up the muscles. Help some, and eventually it feels much better. Link to comment
