dinner at my place..interested in tips!

Hi,

My situation is unique..my parents are gone for the holidays so I have the house to myself and this usually happens every year. There's a female friend of mine who I like to hang out with during the holidays and because I have the whole house to myself, I've had this mild fantasy of inviting her over to my place for a slightly romantic dinner. Because in the years past I would meet her someplace in the city's shopping and entertainment area and that would (1) become boring and (2) I would feel jealous because in that area around the holidays you see alot of cute couples together..yet it is just me and my female friend.

What I need to do is figure out how to set this up. Also, there's a chance that it might not be dinner at my place.. instead it would be close to her place, which is close to the dining/restaurant area of her city. Her city is a nice place to eat, watch a movie and then walk around while I live in the suburbs of my metropolis (fun factor=0). This would be more ideal, and I could drive and bring food items to her. However..she lives with her older brother and I don't know how he'll take to strangers.

I will call her tonight and if she agrees to come to my place then I would love to hear some tips..romantic and dinner-wise.

Thanks and happy holidays!!

oooh! Fun!!!

Well, invite her over. Have the fireplace on (if they have one). Cook some dinner, or if you aren't good at cooking, go to the deli and get some turkey, some sides... or, take out from a fancy restaurant. Have some soft music. Have some nice wine, and candles.

Afterwards, maybe rent a stack of a few DVDs, some comedy, some romances, get some chocolate desserts, grab a cozy blanket, and watch the movie together.

that's what I would like anyways....

but, anytime a man puts thought and effort into anything is really romantic.

have fun!

If you are looking for recipes, Food Network's website has a ton of them. No matter what your level of cooking experience, you can find recipes suitable to your abilities in the kitchen.

If you're looking for quick-to-fix stuff, look for the recipes from the show "30 Minute Meals" (Rachael Ray is a personal favorite of mine...just about every recipe of hers that I've tried has been quite tasty) If you're a beginning cook, look in the show index for "How To Boil Water" If your primary concern is budget, look in the show index for "Good Deal with Dave Lieberman"

The recipes are rated by their difficulty level (easy, medium, etc.) and most also have reviews & ratings from viewers who have tried the recipes. I rate & review stuff on a regular basis as I try out new recipes.

Other than here, Food Network's website is my main online destination.

F'rinstance, here's what I'm attempting for Christmas dinner:

EDITED TO ADD:

Recipes are free to browse/search/print, so you can't beat the price!

But remember, the key to romance is not in preparation, it is in follow through. As long as you two have a good, fun time together then you accomplish the goal.

Also, make something that you know she will enjoy. Pull out her favorite dish and its sure to impress. And if your not such a good cook, get it from someplace and make fun of your cooking ability. It'll show you can laugh at yourself which is good.

There are so many good dishes that you can make. If not, then order in some chinese and lay it out on plates and have a candle lit dinner. Make sure to have wine and any other drinks she might like. If she doesn't drink, then make sure she can have something she likes. The food may be important, but the thought and preperation is more important. The company and conversation are even more important. You can do it bro.
