Carbs and Protiens when lifting weights !

Been lifting weights for just over 1 year now and I decided to get some Protein Whey mix ( the instructions say 48 ml of the mix per 250 ml of milk , total protiens = 28 I believe ) .

 

My questions are, . . . how EFFECTIVE are these things ? When EXACTLY do you use it ? For example 5-10 minutes before or after you work out . How long in general does it take for an individual to see results if they work out for aproximately 1 1/4 hrs 3 days a week ( yes, . . . i know this depends on the individual , but , i would just like a general response here ) .

100 percent whey protien is a very basic, but very effective product. I have been using it for about 6 month. I has done wonders for me, my friend that dose not take the protien has not seen nearly as good of results as I.

 

To give u some back ground, we started around the same weight and height. 6'0 190. He droped about 15 more lbs than I while doing the same amount of excercises, but I look alot more toned and buffer than him.

 

Now I am around 175 and can bench 265. He's around 160 and can only bench 200.

 

You should take good healthy carb before ur work out, and protien after ur work out. But do not wait to long, I think you have an hour window to get the maxim gain after every work out.

I usually eat dinner around 9 pm ( mostly carbs ), wait for a bit then work out around 11PM . I take the protein drink around midnight right after i finish working out then go to bed around 1 AM - 2 AM .

 

How does that sound . Anyone see any flaws in this routine ?

So what are you shooting for in your workouts? Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, or just to generally stay in shape?

 

Im going for . . . looking good and staying healthy so i don' t DIE when i'am 50 . . .

 

For the looking good part . . . I'm not going for the bodybuilder look. I'm looking to get bigger but at the SAMETIME have a really cut defined look .

You know, I'm currently after that (healthy), too.

 

Most of my workout is weights, however I do try and do some cardio in there like jogging in place and going on the stationary bike.

 

I don't want to be super buff or anything. I would just like to have a good amount of muscle, nice abs, and overall a fit body -- something I've always dreamt of having. It's starting to show, which is great. It does feel great!
