I don't brush my teeth...

Recommended Posts

...and i never have. So as you can probably guess...i've never had a girlfriend. and that really sucks because lately (not to sound like an egotistical prick or anything) i've been getting the feeling that i'm quite attractive like...incredibly beautiful women will walk accross the room just to say "hi" and all i can do is look at them and go "..." because it's easier then opening my mouth and watching there eyes explode with confusion and disgust.

it's gay, i never did care about it since they don't hurt or anything. And i never used to be even remotly attractive and i don't know what the hell happened, i'm avoidant and antisocial...but i guess now that things have changed i see i've managed to give myself a 19 year screw over... YAY! 8)

So now that i've filled you in a little on my pathetic life i have a question...

How socially un-acceptable would it be for a 19 year old dude to have dentures? My teeth are far too gone to do anything with. It would cost way too much to fix these things anyway. so i'm thinking the quickest easiest way out is dentures or implants or something....i don't know what to do. All i DO know is i'm not rich so my options are quite limited

anyone want to share their thoughts? (keeping in mind i already know i'm an idiot )

Best thing would be to consult your dentist. He will also need to check for gum disease so be prepared for possible bad news in that regard as well.

Good luck. I hope one day soon you can do this without embarrassment.

but a dentist is going to be an a-hole about it... I need some sort of plan walking into the place. otherwise he's going to want to do some long drawn out process that i don't have the time, the tollerence, or the money for.

Okay...that's pretty um, icky. Considering for a total of four minutes a day it could of all been avoided!

You really need to go a dentist. Tell him the problems with your finances and see what he comes up with. He will check for gum disease (very likely you do have it) and give you some options...he won't force you to do anything, but he will tell you your options, and probably won't be thrilled you waited so long....gum disease is risky not just in what it does to your mouth, but it increases risks of heart disease and general illness as well.

Honestly, if your teeth are rotting/decayed, then he might say dentures anyway as there is little to do to rotting/decayed teeth other than pull them if they are terribly bad.

Dentures are not great, especially not when you are young and there are risks. Without teeth, your gums suffer bone loss, but given the terrible state of your teeth anyway and the fact you most likely have gum disease as is, it is probably already present. You might not have many other options anyway.

But I will say this, you MUST go to a dentist..if not your teeth will only get worse and continue to rot out of your mouth, and quite possibly infect the gums/bone underneath which is not a pleasant thing if it gets out of control.

Wow, that last post about made me lose my breakfast! ArG! Seriously, that last thing on your mind should be your love life! I honestly think you should get some counseling...There has to be something going on with you to deliberately sabatoge(SP) your health this way. The dentist will not be an a-hole about treating you, and if he is find another one--there's one on every street in America. Bear in mind that poor oral health can effect your health in other ways. Even your heart can be damaged. I have always taken excellent care of my teeth, and am lucky they are naturally straight. When I was 18 though, my dentist told me I needed braces to correct a slight overbite. She said if I didn't correct the problem my teeth would be worn paper thin by the time I was 40. I was vain, and didn't want to wear them, and the head gear, and thought she was exaggerating just to make some money on me. Well guess what-she was right, and it didn't even take until I was 40. When I was 38, I took a sip from a straw and a big piece of my front tooth broke off! OMG. Needless to say I'm now in braces to correct the problem at 41, and it will cost me thousands to repair the damage that already was done. Bottom line---THERE IS NO quick, easy cheap way to take care of something you have neglected. Go see a dentist!

well It's all i know, so how can it bother me? it's nasty to YOU, i don't even notice it until i look in a mirror. I think it's gay that i have to change...but i gotta do what i gotta do, ya know?

do you have any idea how big of jerk wads dentists are when you have craptacular teeth? but i guess i'll go anyway. i'm just trying to save myself a trip or two. The dentist office is a hell hole to me...they always go into the hall and cry to each other about how they have to deal with me. it's pretty lame.

Yes, i do have an idea - I've had many problems with my teeth in the past and I've paid $$$ to get them fixed. You'd better believe it that I brush 3x a day now and floss everyday too!

Well, it's ultimately your problem, not ours.... if you want to get these hot women, or even any women, to kiss you, you should take care of it....

How could you go through life and never brush your teeth? You have to be joking. You deserve to have your teeth fall out if you aren't going to take care of them, what else would you expect? Even people who do care for them have problems.

Um. . . did you just never feel like it or something? Dude you really need to brush your teeth. That's like. . . medieval behavior. Come on. Did you really never brush them EVER or are you just exagerating a little? My little brother has a hygeine problem and brushes his only about once a week. I'm not saying that's normal either. . . but is your situation more like that or have you seriously NEVER brushed? It's really hard for me to buy that because you'd be having massive problems that would cause you severe pain- root canals, cavities, gum disease. You would feel it. It would be a problem, not just an annoyance that you can't get a girl because of it.

You know, if this post is true, then I have to say this to give you some leverage. if you don't go to the dentist, and you don't change your attitude towards maintaining your teeth, it will not be current hell, it'll be forever hell.

Dentist see the situation, and will draw from their knowledge, solution of how to bring your teeth to a standard where you won't be afraid to open your mouth. See what solutions they have to offer first before shooting them down.

Honestly it's nasty to anyone- I can't stand someone that doesn't have enough respect for their own body! And you think it's gay to have to change? Then don't.

Actually I have been to dentists all of my life. I had to have braces because of a cross bite in the back part of my teeth in 8th grade and in 3rd grade my front tooth got chipped because a softball hit my teeth. SOOOO I have been to denists all of my life. And they aren't a$s holes. They are there to help you. I now have a gorgeous smile thanks to them.

Trying to save yourself a trip or two is the last thing that should be on your mind. You need to save your mouth!!!! And you said you've never brushed your teeth- I wouldn't think you've ever been to a dentist so how do you know that they cry in the hall about having to deal with you?

Be more open minded (or mouthed for that matter). No one likes to talk to someone that breath reaks. And it's definitally not good for your health.

And about the dentist- yeah I have crappy teeth too because there was no flouride (sp??) in our water when I was growing up (we drank well water). I just have extremely weak teeth. The dentist can be a jerk about it, but they are usually understanding (especially if you have a good excuse like I did). Don't wait until they fall out. Get yourself some flouride, some toothpaste, a brush, and some floss. Turn this problem around because you don't want dentures until you're at least 70+ !! The dentist can probably help you. If you still have health insurance, get down there now!!

no actually i don't understand why they moan...it's their job and they're supposed to be professionals about it. i don't want them cutting at my gums while crying EWWWies. even my garbage man doesn't cry about picking up the smelly filth i put on the street corner.

Just for the health repercussions alone I would be very concerned if I were you.

The bacteria that grows on your teeth and gums that eat holes in your teeth (caries, or cavities) get into your bloodstream when you neglect your mouth and go right to your mitral valve, causing heart damage. It can also poison your blood and cause kidney damage.... in addition to making it difficult for you to eat and chew your food normally, limiting your proper nutrition intake.

I agree with others that you need to see your dentist ASAP.

This has nothing to do with how you look.

Time to swallow your pride and take care of your health.
