carti2.0
So I was walking down the street and an old man in a light blue car was driving by and he honked his horn, I looked over and he waved at me. I have no idea who the hell he was. It was so weird because I am 17 and he looked like he was like...70. ***? And this is not the first time. I have had random cars honking at me. There will be nobody in front of them and I am the only one the street. Why is this happening???? I need it to stop it is SO weird and creepy. Link to comment
boltnrun
You are young and probably attractive. This used to happen to me all the time when I was young. As long as these men don't attempt to harm you or interfere with you or do anything explicit or frightening or illegal or immoral. They're just showing their appreciation for a young attractive lady. 2 Link to comment
Cherylyn
Happens to me, too in my neighborhood and I don't know them from Adam. I'm simply nice and wave back. 🖐️ 🙂 2 Link to comment
smackie9
In my youth dudes/construction workers, etc were whistling, cat calling etc at me. Back then it was the norm, but these days, with the #me too movement, women have made it clear this is not something we appreciate, well most women. If it makes you uncomfortable, don't acknowledge them or look at them. 2 Link to comment

Story - about 5 years ago this happened to me. My son and I were walking home about a mile from home one afternoon when a nice looking man in a nice car called out to us but not by name. Maybe he honked his horn. I said quietly to my son keep walking don’t look. I was on alert. The driver again tried to get our attention but only once. I was a bit shook up. Months later we’re in our elevator. A mom and her husband and little boy get on. I know the mom. Husband says “hey - I’m really sorry I scared you that time - I wanted to offer you and your son a ride home and I forgot your name and I thought you’d recognize me! I mean I sort of recognized him but not alone in his car. Plus I typically focused on the mom !! His wife totally related to why I had been scared ! so maybe he thought he knew you or your family ? Otherwise just ignore. Link to comment
lostandhurt
Sorry, I thought you were someone else 🤔 Just kidding. If he was 20 yrs old would it have been okay with you? Attractive women get attention and sometimes that attention is less than tasteful. In this case he was way to old to be honking at you even if he was 40-50. Just ignore it and but be safe and make sure you are not being followed. Be aware of your surroundings instead of walking with your head down staring at your phone. In your life you will run into jerks of all ages so learning to ignore them will be something you will need to master. Lost 3 Link to comment
