twinyeo
So I was looking on social media and I came across my old school mates instagram. It was nice to see his profile as I have not seen him for a while. Anyway I was looking at his stories and he posted about how excited he was to get a new phone. But what go me was what he said on one of the storys. He said "All these gadgets but we still can't get a text back, am I right girlies?". What does that sound like to you? Would it be something a straight guy would say? Do you think my old mate might not be as straight as I first thought? Any ideas please reply. Thanks. Link to comment
bluecastle
Granted, there's scant information here, but best I can tell? In his story he is clumsily attempting to make a joke about how women don't text him and men in general back. Imagine he's not helping himself much by the use of "girlies" in that department, but no I digress.... Could be completely wrong, of course, but don't really know how any of thais has to do with him being gay. Link to comment

It sounds like that he is using Dating apps and like most men cant get replies from women. I wouldnt certanly read it that he is interested in men(or isnt) just because of that sentence. Cherylyn
What does it matter? I wouldn't read too much into it. Link to comment
twinyeo
"All these gadgets but we still can't get a text back, am I right girlies?" It's the use of 'we' and 'girlies'. Why say we unless he refering to a group of people. Girlies as he say he and the girlies can't get a reply from the men. Like he saying ' we can't get the men to text back am i right girls '. "Girlies" is, depending on your point of view, a cutesy or dismissive reference to women. Translation: "We have all these fancy gadgets, yet us men still don't hear a peep from women after swiping and texting. Women, what's up with that?" My take at least. Link to comment

That way you can communicate with him directly and get a better sense of things. Just say "hi, this is twinyeo from school name, how have you been?" Take it from there. Whether you're interested or not, why not just connect to classmates? Link to comment
